We all have them: holes and stains on our clothes. It can be an annoying stain where it is most visible, or a stitch that has dropped on a piece of clothing which is otherwise perfectly fine.

In the series of booklets Stoppa (Darn), Lappa (Patch) and Ändra (Alter) for Hemslöjdens Förlag, we share ideas on how we have used classical darning and patchning techniques to mend an alter a variety of clothes in differnt creative ways.

Textile designer Katarina Brieditis and master embroiderer  Katarina Evans might not show you the fastest way to mend your clothes, but certainly the most fun. By facing the problem in a creative way we have found unexpected soloutions and we share ideas onhow you can sve your favourite jeans, make new stylish buttons for your jacket and how to transform a rag of a t-shirt to a piece of clothing to wear with pride.

We hope our work makes you curious and ispires you to mend your torn clothes so that you will continue wearing them rather than throwing them away.

P.S. We produce more clothes than we need, we buy more clothes than we need and we throw away more clothes than we have to. It doesn't have to be that way.
